Great Lakes

This series gives visual voice to the effects of water pollution on the aquatic life that resides within the Great Lakes, as well as to humans, who both consume the fish and create the pollution. The paintings are created in layers, beginning with a map of each individual lake. Over this, I paint images that refer to transcendent time, within this series it's fish. I have used the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, who were literally "formed" from toxic waste, to raise questions about the impact of our contemporary contribution to the environment. These layers all combine to reflect the genesis of the issue of environmental concerns being addressed in each painting.
