How it all began . . .
Over the past few years Letters have been presenting to me. In the beginning, these Letters came to me as dark and veiled forms, and they appeared to be emerging from the caves of their birth. I call these first Letters Archaic Letters, for that is what they seemed to be.
Shortly after the emergence of the Archaic Letters I began to paint the Hebrew Letters. They, too, told me their story, but this time their stories took the form of prayers. As I continued to paint the Kabbalah and transcribe the Letter prayers, I began to sense that yet another form of Letter was calling out to me. These Letters were surrounded by a sadness, and as I gave them form, I heard their faint voice and the stories they wanted to share with me. I call these Letters the Evanescence of TYPE, because in their call I sensed their demise.
Upon reflection on the Letter Images and their stories, what appears to have been presented to me are cycles of the dyad of Image and Word in forms of their birth, life, death, and aftermath. The birthing of Letters presented to me as the Archaic Letters. Their life, as well as their potential to explain our lives, is told through the Kabbalah. And finally their death, as experienced through the Evanescence of TYPE, references the demise of their potential to be witnessed and experienced wholly without reduction of their mysterious essence.
